Begur, in the heart of the Costa Brava

Begur has a seacoast of unmatched beauty. Its cliffs, pinewoods, crystal-clear waters and the abrupt coast make this area the most representative of the Costa Brava. With its beautiful creeks with crystal-clear water such as Sa Riera, Sa Tuna and Aiguablava (the only national Parador in the province), it is one of the best places for diving on the Costa Brava mainly due to its closeness to Ses Negres sea-land reserve, located between Sa Riera and Aiguafreda beaches. A visit to these creeks is a must, there you can enjoy the beach or simple relax on one of the magnificent terraces and admire the spectacular landscape in Sa Tuna while sipping a drink or enjoying an excellent Mediterranean supper.

Begur, an incomparable setting

Already populated in Prehistoric times, this area has remarkable monumental remains such as the Begur castle from the beginning of the 11th century, the defence towers built to warn against the Moorish invaders, dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, and the St. Esteve de Esclanyà site which is formed by a group of stone houses surrounding a Romanesque church with documentary evidence since 1280, as well as the castle colloquially called Torre d’Esclanyà (the Esclanyà tower).

This village has managed to maintain its charm through the centuries and has become one of the favourite tourist destinations on the Costa Brava.
